Slow day today. Passed out last night before 22:00 and woke up around 8:30. From there, it took 2 hours to decamp and get organized. The broken spoke has me quite concerned about cycling. I managed to tape the spoke back to it’s nipple, but that does not provide any support. Finally on the road, I kept it slow and easy. Made it all the way to Vila Nova de Milfontes.
Vila Nova de Milfontes looks like a beautiful Portuguese town. Touristy: Yes. Expensive: looks that way. At only 8 km from the campsite, it was a safe bet to make riding out here. Tomorrow I can mail out excessive gear at CTT. Then I can take a cab to Odemira where there is a bike shop that should open around 9:30. Unfortunately I am unable to explore this town, hopefully Stephanie and I make it back.
I booked the Pirata Hostel Milfontes for the night. Fortunately I was able to check in early. I’ve got top bunk in a mixed 4 person dorm. For 25 Euros, it is an okay deal. Let’s see how well I sleep. The goal for today is to update all the expense inputs, and really figure out how much I’ve spent this trip. From there I can budget the remaining amount, and how many days that will afford me.
Pizza for lunch. The server used to live in Figueira! She said this area is nice. A little warmer, and a little less wind than Figueira. However it is more expensive.
